Coach is tackling waste and extending a handbag's lifecycle with the launch of Coachtopia, a circular sub-brand that reimagines discarded material into completely new accessories.
Coachtopia, creating a new brand with an expanding population of Gen Z , including journalists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, upcyclers, designers, and fashion enthusiasts. Coachtopia’s community has been actively involved, contributing ideas, expressing insights on the circular approach, and creating expectations for the changes they wish to see. As part of its aim, Coachtopia is utilizing collaborative programs to invest in this next generation of talent, highlighting and utilizing fresh talent to solve fashion's problems.
Circular craft continuously focuses on the issue of overproduction and overconsumption with a strong technique of marketing,omnipresent advertising, and the persuasive power of influencers. Current issues in the culture of fashion are impulsive purchasing, enticing consumers with the allure of low prices and the promise of bolstering their sense of personal identity and social acceptance. As a result, these products frequently wind up in landfills, are burned, or are exported to underdeveloped countries, which causes a number of environmental and social issues.
Past methods and skills , encourges greater interaction between manufacturers, materials, and customers. It encourages ethical conduct and fair working conditions by encouraging responsibility and transparency throughout the production ecosystem. Craftspeople and designers that embrace circular craft not only produce lovely and useful goods, but they also make a significant impact on community well-being and environmental conservation.
Coachtopia aimed towards the creation of new materials by crafting with waste and designing products that can be reimagined, remade and recycled to live multiple use. In doing so, it is working to create things that have a significantly reduced impact on the planet compared to conventional luxury products. ‘Making with Waste’ was hosted by sustainable fashion advocate and Coachtopia community member Aditi Mayer, who visits KH Exports, a family-run leather manufacturing company in India, which has been working with Coach since 1987.
Launching with a large range of all-gender ready-to-wear apparel, handbags, accessories and footwear. all crafted with recycled and renewable materials. Recycled materials played a large role in the new collections. Along with recycled leather, Coachtopia’s hoodies and T-shirts will be made from at least 95% recycled cotton, bag straps and hardware will be made from at least 70% recycled resin, and canvas totes and footwear webbing will come from entirely recycled polyester.
Coachtopia is utilizing collaborative programs to invest in this next generation of talent, highlighting and utilizing fresh talent to solve fashion's problems. has also built an online community of Gen Z members who are sharing their ideas and opinions about the sub-brand’s products as they are designed. Founding members include actor Lola Tung, climate activist Maya Penn and fashion designer Tyler McGillivary. The Coachtopia launch shows its economy extremely successful, selling out in its first two days on the market and sparking industry-wide discussion on how brands can embrace a new, circular supply chain as a means of addressing climate change.
